The Unfolding & Embodiment Workshop: Writing as a Practice to Tap into Your Magic and Come Back Home to Yourself

November Writing Workshop with Arielle Estoria
*This workshop has taken place. You will receive access to the recording.

Join this two hour session led by writer Arielle Estoria, centered around writing prompts inspired by the themes of her book, The Unfolding. We will learn to tap into our truest nature, hear our truth with clarity, and write from the gut. The writing session will be paired with a deep dive discussion on that keeps us disembodied from ourselves, how to recalibrate your compass, and come home to yourself. And most importantly we will find the permission to unfold into our fullest and freest versions of ourselves.

Arielle Estoria (R-E-L EH-STORY-UH) (she/her) is a Published and commissioned Poet and Author. Her motto, "Words not for the ears but for the soul" stems from her dedication to remind anyone who encounters her work that words are meant to be felt and experienced not just heard. With a specific heart in empowering, encouraging and making space for audiences of women to feel free and at home in their own bodies. Arielle is the Co-Author of two self-published collections of poetry: Vagabonds and Zealots, Write Bloody Spill Pretty. She released an EP of poetry and music titled Symphony of a Lioness in 2016. In March 2023, Estoria released her first solo book of poetry titled, THE UNFOLDING an invitation to come home to yourself.

Deep: An Empathic Approach to Writing Fiction

December Writing Workshop with Tiffany Clarke Harrison
*This workshop has taken place. You will receive access to the recording.

Great fiction connects a character’s humanity to a reader’s humanity. It is a conversation between their lived experiences that brings deeper understanding, giving readers insight into how and why a character unfolds to create an immersive story. In this empathy-driven workshop, you’ll explore your characters on a psychological level and identify with their thoughts and feelings to write fiction that connects with readers on human to human.

Tiffany Clarke Harrison is an Author and Author Mentor/Writing Coach. She graduated from Salisbury University with a BA in English with a creative writing concentration, and holds an MFA creative writing (Fiction) from Queens University of Charlotte. Blue Hour is her debut novel, and was listed on The Best Books of 2023 list by Vulture, and made President Barack Obama’s 2023 Summer Reading List.

Storytelling as Shadow Work:
Create Your Story's Heartbeat From Your Pain Point

January Writing Workshop with Julia Childs
*This workshop has taken place. You will receive access to the recording.

We all come into our lives with pain points. The specifics aren't as important as the themes. Perhaps it is a tale of oppression. Misogyny. Displacement. Grief. Generational patterns. Whatever it is, there is a pain point that is waiting to become your narrative's heartbeat. This workshop will prompt writers to create a character that symbolizes their shadow self. Generative prompts and open sharing will leave participants with launching points for story ideas and tools to continue mining their personal life experiences for excellent writing material. All are welcome in this workshop, fiction and non-fiction writers, poets and short storytellers alike.

Julia Childs is a writer and psychotherapist who specializes in helping creative women of color heal from anxiety, depression, and trauma. She brings a heart-centered, warm, and intuitive approach to her work by honoring the relationship between soul, self, and the systemic structures in our lives. In her writing work, she focuses on the intersections of creativity, mental health, and social justice. She has penned articles for Parents, Verywell Mind, and Shape and is currently at work on a memoir about generational trauma, grief, and healing. She comes to this work honestly, is guided by the spirit of those who came before her, and cannot wait to see your evolution.

Great Beginnings:
Create Work That Ignites the Page From The Very First Line

February Writing Workshop with Erin Granat
*This workshop has taken place. You will receive access to the recording.

What could be more important than a great opening to your piece? This stands for prose, poetry, screenplays, or articles. You’ve got to hook your reader in the first few sentences. No pressure, right? In this generative writing workshop, we’ll look at the opening sentences and paragraphs from several literary genres to deconstruct what works and what doesn’t. We’ll also do our own writing, trying different approaches to beginnings — from character, dialogue, place, and sensory detail.

Erin Granat is a writer and filmmaker from rural Nevada. She is the recipient of the 2023 Bread Loaf Writers' Conference Katharine Bakeless Nason Contributor Award in Nonfiction. Her writing has also been supported by the Key West Literary Seminar and the Gorrell Award for Emerging Writers. She was a finalist for the Newfound Prose Prize and longlisted for CRAFT Literary's Creative Nonfiction Award. She has performed her writing at the Edinburgh Fringe and the Moth. Her debut feature film as co writer/director is MOON MANOR, a comedy about how to have a “good death.” The movie was bought by Showtime for streaming, and the screenplay was requested for the Academy of Motion Picture's Permanent Core Collection. She is currently writing her first book for the third time.

Words From Those Who Know…

“I can’t imagine a better way to spend a
Saturday morning.”

“I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from an online workshop, and I just started writing some poetry. By the end I felt like I had several pieces I was proud of and ideas for more, a grasp on poetry as form that I didn’t have before, and an all around renewed creativity. It was so much more than I could have hoped for.”

— Lisa Rae

“This was my first ever workshop on writing and my first experience diving deeper into it. The prompts have been enlightening and the whole workshop was actually less confronting than I expected. I felt safe in this space and gently guided. It was perfect for a beginner and more advanced writers alike. I was able to remove blocks around writing and creativity without resistance.”
