Word Witch with Kate Belew

$33.00

Saturday, October 23rd, 10 am PST/1:00 pm EST

There's a reason that "Spell" and "Spelling" are so intertwined. Casting spells, much like the building of a sentence, is a magical practice. In this workshop, you'll be guided to access your own inner magic and Word Witch (no experience required!). We'll discuss all things word witchery, poetry as spells, writing rituals, building altars of language, and the power of a perfectly chosen word. Bring your Grimoire (notebook), Wand (writing utensil), questions (if you've got 'em), and your magical self. This workshop will be held a week before Samhain (pronounced sow-win). Samhain is the Witch's day of Halloween, from ancient pagan and Celtic traditions, and is when the veil is the thinnest between this world and the otherworld. A perfect time to explore the world of writing.

Kate Belew is a Brooklyn-based Writer, Word Witch, Poet, Storyteller, and Strategist from the Midwest. Her work spans genres and spaces: poetry, nonprofits, immersive theatre, health & wellness, herbalism, witchcraft, and the psychedelic. She is interested in helping others craft their content, tell their stories, and connect with their innate creative power as well as spinning my own kinds of tales. She has a Masters in Fine Arts from Sarah Lawrence College and is currently a student of the plants at Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine and an apprentice to Green Witch Robin Rose Bennett.
